Default Home Made Lift Assist Spring Possibility!!??
Has anybody ever come up with a home made lift assist?

I picked up one of these at TSC,



and might do some testing of lift assist with it.

I always thought the stock lift assist did not have enough UMPH!!

This one is 0.400" wire so it will have a little more UMPH.

Any other springs been substituted??

I have been thinking about making one for my 1200,wouldn't think it would be to hard to do. Whats the size of the spring you bought? What model tractor are you putting it on?

The one I found is a truck snow blade spring at TSC for $12.99. I hope to put it on a QL1000.

I've had the same thought in the back of my mind since attaching the blade to my 122. I think it would likely work pretty well if you can get an adjustment nut welded into the end of the spring.

Post pics if you get it set up!

They sell an adjustment bolt that has an eye which slips over the spring end.

5/8" bolt w/eye hole and 2 nuts about $3.

Just put one on my # 122 & works great. In anticipation I bought it last Summer from a club member. Original part. No fooling around I am not that good with fabricating my own stuff. After mounting the gizmo I now can & will fab-up a springy thing for my # 109.
