i feel like an idiot. i changed the fluid and filter on my dads 1440 and now it wont move, i let it sit overnight with no fluid in it to let the silicone on the rearend dry good so i assume the pump has air in it and its not picking up the fluid. what should i do?

i used a purolater filter which is the same filter ive used on every other hydro ive ever worked on.

Its whatever Purolator filter the wix number converts to, I've used them many times on other hydro cubs without issue but after talking to Sam I'm gonna try a Napa filter tomorrow to see if its any better.

I went to the Purolater site and tried to cross the OEM Cub, the Wix and the Napa numbers and according to Purolater they don't make the proper filter. Let us know how you make out after you change the filter.

so heres the scoop. ive used the purolator filter many time without issue, after talking with Sam i decided to try a napa filter and there was no change. after some brainstorming my dad suggested loosening the filter and starting it, we ran it with the filter loose for 20 seconds or so and when i tightened it back down the trans began to work properly. i dont believe the filter was the issue but either way its working now and im happy. thank you to Sam for the phone call and the knowledge.

Possible air bubble in the system somewhere or pressure somewhere preventing it from priming? That'll be a head scratcher if loosening the filter and tightening it back fixed it. Guess there's no substitute for experience
