Angry IH cub cadet 124

My belt for my PTO to my mower deck keeps jumping off. If I leave the tensioner loose or if I make it tight. When I put the belt back on with the tensioner backed off all the way the belt is still really tight. Is it the wrong belt, or am I just doing something wrong?

First, welcome to OCC............

Next, what mower deck (size or model) do you have ??

Lastly, what belt are you using ??

It’s a 421u111 the belt I couldn’t tell you it came with the tractor when I got it
It ran find then the guy I got it from dropped off the snow blade for it and we took the deck off so he could show me how to put it on and ever since then the belt just keeps come off
And how can I tell if I’m making the tensioner too tight

Is that mower deck a "bolt on" or a "quick attach"...??

This was at the transition point and could be either for the 124.

I believe the 2 pullies should align with each other to achieve proper tension.
If there is a weak or incorrect spring used for the QA this may be the issue here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
