Cub Cadet 126

Hello everyone. I had the son of an older farmer approach my family about an old Cub Cadet they have sitting on the farm. Made the trip out, and it turned out to be a 126. They had the motor rebuilt 5 to 10 years ago, and haven't done anything with it since. Paint is good, and it has been shedded, but the tires are flat and it just looks like a tractor nobody has used in awhile. I know the 126 is a more rare number, only a little over 5,000 made, and cubs are hard to come by in these parts. So, what would you pay? Does come with a deck. Sorry, didn't grab pictures.

Are the tires good? I mean can you put tubes in them or are they split?
Is the paint orgional? Without pics and engine condition known, I'm going to
throw out 350-400.

Paint is original, with tubes, tires will most likely need replaced, and since the engine was rebuilt before it was shedded by a respectable mechanic, I would say with a little carb work it should run nicely.

Lots of factors to consider. I gave $200 for my 126 in running shape, deck, 42" blade, wheel weights, and IH windbreaker cab. I would be around Terry's estimate at around $350, given your location and the scarcity of cubs there.

Sounds to me like you paid for the cab and they threw everything else in on the deal.

You have to consider that options and condition are everything in this hobby, headlights, 3 point, creeper, rear PTO, electric lift and paint make a world of difference in what many people would be willing to pay.

I would stand there and scratch my head a little and quietly say something like "it doesn't look too bad, but it doesn't run and I can't know what kind of condition it's in without hearing it run..."

Then ask what their absolute bottom dollar is, if you're comfortable with the asking price, then give them the money and take it home. If you're not comfortable with the price, make an offer that you think is fair.

I don't think I'd go over $250.00 for a non running plain Jane 126 with no tires, unless you wanted it REALLY bad.

Even if the engine is good you could easily dump another $700.00 in it if it needs tires, a clutch, front pto, and wire loom.

Don't pay more money for it than you are willing to loose.

It is a bare bones model. No headlights, pto, 3 point or electric lift. I think $250 would be my top dollar too.
