I found a model 72 with the 3 pt hitch on it. It also has ag tires but no fenders and with 3 forward and 1 reverse gear. As you can see from my tractor list I have nothing this old so it looks pretty sparse to me.
I was just wondering about the price range for such a machine. Any info would be appreciated. I was thinking it would make a good one bottom plow tractor. What if I could get it for $300-$325? The ad says it runs well and he's asking $425. |

I would say you found a decent tractor. But,
![]() I will say this much, like I always do, it's worth whatever you think it is. But, if it runs, has ag tires, and has a rear lift, take in account to what you have: -A running, driving tractor should bring $250 at minimum. -Ag tires are worth $50 at min. -A rear lift is worth $75 min. It will pull an 8-10 inch plow depending on conditions. If it were me, and I really wanted it, I'd go $350 because you know you can at least get that out of it. But, you never know, feel the guy out and see what he says.

Thanks for your response. I agree with your thoughts. I was originally looking for a wide frame hitch outfit but found all those on Ebay were going for over $200 just for the 3pt and another $100-$150 for the sleeve part. I didn't want to spend that type of money for just a hitch.
When I spotted this 72 with the 3 point already on it I had to check it out. I went tonight to check it out and the 7 hp engine runs like a top with no smoke. The seller provide the sleeve hitch from the 3 he had on a shelf after I told him I was looking for a plow tractor. I manage to score the entire deal for $350 from a very helpful seller. As he said, 'it may not look showroom but all my stuff works and works well'. It's the oldest Cub I have now and one of the coolest to drive. It's the only gear drive Cub I have. I think I'm really going to like the simplistic setup this little tractor offers. I'll try to figure out how to get a picture posted. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/a...1&d=1347505257 http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/a...1&d=1347505313 |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
