If it's really knocking and it's not numerous other things rattling, I'd say that's pretty high for a tractor that's going to need an engine rebuild.

I wouldn't pay more than $300..And for that I would buy it to fix myself, and not have much more money in it.

That is a sweet looking 1650. I would buy it and fix the motor. Hard to find them in that kind of condition. At least it is around here. The 16hp engine is a beast.

I think its to nice to pass up as well. Will show up and go for it-but not at asking price. Only 8 minutes drive from my house
Like I said have not redone a motor before. Maybe asking for a lot of help on here!!! Or about how much to redo it if I pay someone?

To just 'stop the knock'...It probably wouldn't cost much more than $150. ![]() I replaced a rod and filed down the crank on a 16 HP engine for Jluster, that was knocking bad, recently..He didn't have much money in it at all. ![]()

I'll give you this, at least the seller is letting buyers know that the engine has problems and didn't just paint it up to make it pretty to sell with obvious problems. I think the price is high with an engine knock, and "restored" is slightly misleading if the engine is going to need work. I wouldn't go over 300 either.

It's a real sharp looking 1650, looks like he took care off it. If you don't have the money for the rebuild now you could always put a 12hp or 14hp out of another QL for very cheap and in time fix the 16hp and put back in. Just another option if you really want it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
