Default Hello from a new Cub owner in CT.

Hello all ;
I'm a 55 year old Grandpa that got involved with motors around 9 years old .I took an Adult Ed Class last fall on small engines and it exploded into a collection of about 20 tractors in the last 4 months. I took the class to learn to repair the Cub Cadet left to me by my Father in Law. I believe its a 682 model. I now also have a Model 70. I would like to pull with and recently found the first garden tractor I ever used my Father in Law's first Cub Cadet also a 70 with a Danco loader. I'm trying to buy it back to restore it. It was one great little machine. Looking forward to learning a great deal from you folks. If anyone belongs to a club convent to 06255 zip code, please let me know. I'd like to meet up with restorers in my area.

To this day people who weren't here at the time tell me I'm crazy when I tell them just what that little tractor did here not only did it landscape about 2 acres of land but it also dug the cellar under the house!That's a 40x40 hole about 5 feet deep (there was only a crawl space) It also leveled the lawn where all that basement dirt went as fill over a banking,That's besides it's normal job of mowing almost 3 acres and plowing snow in 800 feet of driveway and tilling the 20x40 garden.Dad wore out the Kohler 7 horse and rebuilt it to a 10 Hp seems they only differed in bore size(at least that,s what I was told ) Dad did say he built it to the next engine size because the dealer told him the block was the same ) I do know it ran another 10 years at least and was running fine when he traded it in on the new Cub in the early 80s he never once had trouble with the power train other than the rebuild of the "tired" 7 horse motor it had the hydrostatic trans.I plan to keep in touch with the current owner and I offered him a good running 16 HP Wheel Horse along with a transaxle for another tractor he has besides a 7x10 trailer in exchange for dads dead cub but so far no deal !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
