I've been into Cubs for about 1-1/2 years now. I started with a 1450. I bought it to replace a 1981 Sears GT16. I've had both knees replaced and the gear shift on the GT16 made it a little difficult to get on and off of. So one day I was scrolling there Craigslist and saw this old Cub. Hydrotrans? Great looking little tractor. I had to go look at it.
As soon as I saw it, I knew my butt belonged in that seat next. What a drought little trooper it is. And it came with a snow blade. It ran great! No smoking. No leaking. Just awesome.

Since then, have picked up a 1450 for parts and just a few weeks ago, a 1872. I'm picking up a power angle Haban blade for it next weekend and enjoying restoring it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
