Thanks Matt, that's what I've been looking for.
I also need the list that corresponds serial# to year, and model #.
Or, can anyone give me a date for Cub serial #824743?

And, I thank you again!
I'm looking at a model 70, right around the corner from my house. It's real clean, with fenders and deck. Has good tires on it.
I read the serial numbers, and only saw 8247 3. The space appeared to be a worn down 4...but apparently was just paint.
The kohler has a 288 spec number, so I assumed 65'.
Thanks again.

Well, all was for nothing.
The guy just returned my calls.
Get this, he wants $900 for it!!!! says he just got it back from our local Cub dealer after a full refurbish and it cost him $600.
Sad part is, I'd have given him $300 for it before he spent the 600....I would have just had the wife drop me off,and drove it the 1/2 hour (it would have taken me by cub time) home.
I've seen it time and time again. They think because it's old...it's worth alot.
Well, maybe he'll call me back in the spring.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
