The problem is, the last time I searched, was coming up with theses specs:
* Single cylinder application * 2" hole Diameter mounting * 0-4000 RPM Range * Analog type * 12VDC I could not find anything that met all those specs.

You notice that in Dave Kirk’s,” Building a Hot-Rod Kohler K301”;
http://www.kirkengines.com/downloads...ohlerPartI.pdf On the bottom of page 11, “This shows the right side of the engine where the Mercury outboard voltage regulator replaces the stock item. This contains the tach driver circuitry for the instrument panelmounted Datcon tachometer.” I believe that different tachs are triggered by different means. Some like a timing light, “inductive tachs” may be listed as being for 2,4,6 or 8 cylinder engines but may, ( Please correct me if I'm wrong here) be used in other cylinder configurations, like single cylinder, as long as it is being triggered from the proper source. Does anyone know of someone on this site that has a Dave Kirk Tach? Was there any part numbers on the tach and voltage regulator? I found a marine tach that looks just like Dave Kirks.....just unsure of the voltage regulator and any other parts he added. anyone?

yea, makes sense. maybe even some close up pics of the front/back of both Tach and regulator to assist in the search.

Another quick question....the K301aqs engine use's points as the firing system to the spark plug. But those points are fired off the timing of the cam. So, it doesn't have a wasted spark? Am I accurate to assume this?
