Mate , we moved from Sydney suburbs out to rural residential and the deal with my wife was a ride on mower.
Originally narrowed my choice to a Cub , Toro or a Kubota all had the same features and strengths but the Cub won out on price , also the Toro dealer was a dipstick (ha ha) On to my second Cub , do all my own maintenance and , touch wood , no problems What part of Sydney does your friend reside , in land area it is a massive place , we all want our 1/4 acre |

My friend lives on Carter Street, In Callaway. Are you familiar with that area? He is a Harley Davidson motorcycle rider like myself. That is how we met years ago.
I am also a fan of WheelHorse lawn and garden tractors. I have two of those. A 417-A and a 312-8, also a Cub Cadet 1650. Do you have any of the Wheel Horse brand where you live? |

Yes, actually it is in Sydney. Near one of the Masonic Lodges in Sydney.
If you are a fan of the old Lawn and Garden Tractors then check out the Wheel Horses. They are built very well, use Kohler engines, are available with manual or hydo transmissions, are adaptable to many types of implements, and like International Harvester Cub Cadets, are no longer manufactured. They are very simple to work on. You can take one almost completely apart with a 1/2" and 9/16 wrench and socket and pliers. Its sad that Lawn and Garden Tractors are no longer made like that. The good thing is, there are still plenty of the old ones around, and parts are readily available for them here in the U. S. Van |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
