Since this was "bumped" I have to say....
I had the local Chief of Police stop in here the other day. Said a guy (we both knew) was at the local gas station and his truck wouldn't start. Said he had a new battery in it and didn't know what to do. The guy asked him if he would run and ask me to come down. Well, grabbed my jumper cables and some tools and ran down to find............. he had installed the battery just as pictured above. As I said "I think I know what is wrong" and started to pull the cable off, he put his hand on my shoulder, leaned in close and said, "If you tell anyone about this I'm gonna kick your ***" LOL!!!!

When I got back to the shop, I pulled the cap out of my pocket and for the life of me, I couldn't see any holes or tears in it. But he swore the battery was installed over 2 weeks ago. I have no idea how it ever started and ran prior to that day!

I worked parts for 25 years and only had this happen one time. This customer came in, slammed the battery on my counter, and proceeded to use every swear word he knew to tell me about the 'junk batteries' we sold at my store. When he was done I politely pointed to the battery and asked him if that ground terminal cover was removed before installation. He was so embarassed for acting like a complete idiot that he just picked up the battery and left without another word. I didn't know him and don't recall ever seeing him in my store ever again. I'd like to say this was an isolated incident but I took more than my share of verbal abuse in the parts business.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
