kt17 II rpm question
I checked the rpm's on my 682 with one of those budget digital tachs it said it was 3100 rpm at full throttle so I adjusted the throttle stop and now it runs at 3390+/-. My question is how important is it to run at the rated 3600 rpm when mowing? Will the extra 210 rpm make much difference in blade tip speed? I know you guy's know what you're talking about so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks |

loosen the throttle clamp and pull the cable a little more and retighten the clamp.
When mowing, it does a better job if running @ full rated rpm's. Actually, setting it @ 3600, it will drop back a bit under load anyway. if just putzing or pulling a cart and such, no need to run full throttle as I'm sure you know. Some say it cools better @ full throttle, which it does but once it is running 3000 or so it cools prolly as good as it does at 3600+ Now stay away from 4000, as sometimes bad things happen and no sence getting in that arena. oh, this time of the year, watch the cotton wood fuzzies, they play hell on cooling, plugging everything including yer air conditioner condensers. Keep it blown out with yer airhose. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
