Most of the members here have older GT'S. Different animals. Speaking for myself only, if I "cheated" the tank out "didn't remove nessisary components to do the job" i would find a way to "cheat" it back in. It didnt grow while you had it out.

Looking in the manual, it looks like the stepped part goes to the back.

It looks like the back of the tank is facing forward and the bottom of the tank is facing operators right. Try changing the orientation of the tank.

And the verdict is......I WAS NOT SMARTER THAN THE EQUIPMENT! @gsomersjr you are correct. The fuel tank outlet goes towards the BOTTOM (like DUH!) I can't believe just how STUPID I was, it only makes sense the outlet faces down.

I just feel so dumb.....so so dumb.

At any rate it's back in there and it runs.

Thanks to all of you for responding in such short order. Maybe now I can post a thread for some of the other things that are happening on this fine machine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
