I am a new member in a heck of a bad shape, am DESPERATE and BEGGING FOR HELP!!!!!!

2009 Cub Cadet LTX1050, Kohler 22hp.

This morning I went to take the plastic cover off the engine to check for nests, bad wires etc. The only way I could seem to get it to come off was to remove the gas tank. I worked it out of there sure enough, but I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT GET THE GAS TANK BACK IN!!!!!

At this point I am ANGRY, and I mean ready to EXPLODE!!!!! This stinking damn bloody piece of crap WON'T GO BACK IN THERE NO MATTER WHAT I DO!!!!

For god's sake, can ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET THIS GAS TANK BACK IN THERE?? PLEASE.....ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW.....PLEASE tell me what I need to do. I MUST get this thing running IMMEDIATELY and I am ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE!!!!!!!!! EMERGENCY!!!!! PLEASE help me!!!!!

What a way to introduce myself.

What seems to be the obstruction? Can you snap a pic of it with the tank in as far as it will go illustrating whats stopping it?

THANK YOU for replying. Here's a pic. This any good? It's hitting the steering shaft and the dash itself

Im assuming it needs to turn left by 90 degrees yes? If the engine is keeping you from doing so you could unbolt the engine. However, logic would suggest if it came out it should go back in. Did you forcefully pull it out? Or did it slide out easily?

It took a bit of maneuvering but it came out of there without too much trouble. No matter what I do or what position I place it it won't go.

I think I could get it back in if I could get the dash to tilt back, but the bolts at the bottom are covered up by the chassis.

Well,. One idea. Its plastic. It should flex a bit or bow inward. However it would be harder to do that with the cap on keeping it from "shrinking" for lack of a better term. Im guessing the correct way to do this to begin with was to loosen or remove bolts holding dash to allow more clearance.

Believe me I'da done that, but the bolts at the bottom of the dash are covered by the chassis. The place where someone's feet go.

Other option is pull the four bolts holding engine. They are pretty accessible. Maybe even loosen front 2 and remove rear 2 might do the trick with engine tilted a bit forward

It looks like the belts on the crankshaft will interfere with moving the engine in any way and with the tensioner make it difficult to bolt back up? I looked at the engine bolt option and removing the chassis. Both of them look incredibly difficult.

I CAN'T be the first one to remove a gas tank on this model. Someone HAS to have done this before

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
