Default 2016 cub - EFI engine surging

Hi like I said the 547cc efi engine is surging when started at full throttle at low throttle it's fine when pto is engaged it's fine no idea why a brand new mower would do this. I called dealer I purchased from they said it's part of break in process and put a few hours on it and if it's still doing it they will come pick it up... I don't believe that since my dad bought same mower and his doesn't do that. What should I do? Thanks

Is it possible the fuel is old or has water in it? As long as it's under warranty I'd just do what the dealer says and put a few hours on it and go from there, regardless of what we say the dealer probably won't do anything for you until you try what they said.

Surging is not part of a break in procedure. If it's under warranty the dealership needs to fix it or provide a solution other than 'oh, it's part of the break-in.' First thing I would think it was would be fuel pressure. EFIs needs proper fuel pressure at all speeds for the injectors to open/operate. Quick check of the spark plugs and air filter would be good too. Beyond that, they need to fix it.

FYI, my EFI performed amazing from first crank.

Why do you start it at full throttle? Do you start your car at full throttle?

Cub doesn't make engines. It's either a Kohler or Kawasaki.
I highly doubt the manual says to start at full throttle. Even if it does, stop it!! It's not good for it.

Get the dealer to make it right. No one here is going to be able to help on an EFI motor. They are computer controlled, and you have no way to read the information it is getting. Get it back to the dealer.

I just spent about a 1/2 hour trying to find out who makes that engine and came up blank. What ever it is it's a vertical shaft single with injection and it's branded Cub Cadet.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
