Default Front Blade

Anyone use a front blade on their LT? I'm ordering one tonight for mine. This shoveling stuff is getting to be too much for the old guy.

I think this front blade http://www.homedepot.com/p/MTD-46-in...mtd+snow+blade

and a set of chains for the rear and hopefully I'll be in business. Could have used it this morning. We got 3-5" total.

Anyone have this setup?

The best advice I can give you about plowing with an Lt is to not let the snow get to deep, plow it every couple inches so you don't have to push to much at once.

You may want a I get some wheel weights also. A LT weighs a lot less than a GT . If I didn't have weights on my 1211 it would have a hard time with 42" blade.

Agree with both poster!

The plow you looking at has no undercarriage framing, those are just good for very light duty, that's what LT are build for.

I wouldn't put weights on an LT. Good way to tear it up. (Trans just isn't heavy enough.) Plus, that blade isn't going to hack being beat around too much.

I'm wouldn't think the plastic weights from Sears or home depot would hurt. Theyed only add about 50lbs to it, heck I'm not telling how much I Add when I climb on! Lol

What model LT are you using?
If you have the accessories booklet that came with said model tractor, and weights were offered, or a push blade I wouldn't worry about it. But use your head and proceed with caution.
As others mentioned, do your snow removal before the snow get's the upper hand. And I wouldn't be jackin forward and back with a set of chains either.
Have fun, and let's see some pictures with it's winter cloths....

My carrot head"Bota" LT use to plow snow with plastic wheel weight and chains in his other "Life" before I purchase the poor thing from those evil "Gobernement" workers .

The G730 HG tranny and the "Bota" frame manage to survive but the OEM crappy engine did not. It's actually a very solid LT! (Over 600lbs)

I think CC LT with his 9 gauge frame can deal with plowing but only if his tranny is up to the task. Hydro enemy is heat but in winter cooling is not a problem.

But we don't know which LT he has. It may not be a hydro. It may be the one with the friction drive tranny, which won't hack much abuse. Need to know the model of the tractor......

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
