Model explanation
Tractor 2166
What is the difference in the model 13A-214G100 and 13A-254G100 tractors. Where can I find the part number of the tube style front bumper? All I see listed is what I'm thinking is the stock formed sheet metal bumper. I have a 13A-214G100 with the sheet metal bumper. I took a tube style bumper off of a 13A-254G100. Curious if this is one of the differences in the model numbers? The parts diagrams don't show anything but the sheet metal bumper (that I've seen). What is the advantage/difference of the Tractor 2000 series over the LT Tractor (engine make, more robust frame/construction, more attachments, etc.???) |

From the information that I have, the only difference lies in the Transmission. At the Parts Lookup site, it looks like there were three different transmissions for his model.

Thanks for the research Roland. Looks like the bumper was an accessory if you wanted a little more robust bumper. Good thing too, because the sheet metal bumpers are pretty much useless for protection (not that you should be running into things).

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
