Rough 1650 with attachments
Craigslist find: 1650, body doesn't look terribly rough, but it has a crappy rattle can paint job. Stated to run good but "kinda cold blooded". Doesn't state, but I am guesstimating to be a 44 inch deck. What caught my attention is that he also has a tiller and a snowblower for it. I don't have a real need for either, but wouldn't mind having around. I don't know much about the attachment values, how much are they worth if in good condition? I'll post a link if it works. Thanks in Advance https://omaha.craigslist.org/grd/5512841996.html |

The blower and tiller are worth $250 to $300 each in my area and that tractor doesn't look to bad to me, I'd say the tractor with the deck in working order would be worth no less than $400. The drive line and motor mount will probably need some repair work but that's pretty standard for the ql tractors, his price is decent but it would be better if you could get it for $5 to $600 so you have some money to make repairs.

Thanks for the quick responses Tim and Terry. That is what I was thinking. Pretty reasonable price if in moderate operating condition. I have heard and read about the common motor mount issues on the QL series, but other than that they don't have any major common problems do they? Since the add does state make offer, I am guessing there is a little wiggle room. Unfortunately I am booked up until late tonight, so I'll have to see if he still has it Friday afternoon.
Are there any specific concern areas to check on the blower or the tiller? Is there any chance that the same belt can be used for more than one attachment, or do they all take different length belts? Are there different model blowers/tillers that are better or worse, or same? Also, I currently have a 682. Would the tiller/blower bolt up to that the same on that rig? It is new enough it has the aluminum rear end, and it does have a PTO for bagger attachment. Thanks again, and sorry for showing my greenhorn side. |

Sorry Terry, I forgot to answer your question. I am just a bit east of Council Bluffs, so this mower would be about an 1 1/2 drive for me, about the same it would take me to get to Sioux City haha.

No PTO. Cast Iron rear end. Virtually indestructible.
Can't answer much on the tiller.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
