I just dropped in on this thread and started reading a few replies so I am not totally caught up with this thread so forgive me if I make an arse out of myself! Quote:
Anyway (that got more long winded that I meant it to) my roundabout point was guess what happened to us if we got too far out of line? Let's just say I got my arse spanked once or twice as a kid and do I hate my dad for it? Not one bit. Nowadays if you spank your child and they cry foul about it you would probably end up in jail for child abuse, be the internet's next victim, and god knows what else. Nowadays kids sit on their tablets, iPhones, computers, etc and waste the days away not knowing how exciting it is to climb a tree, or build a snow fort, or play sword fighting with sticks, or play in a creek, or dangerously scale an old barn with a rope, or a million other things. They text instead of talk (which I'm guilty of too, from time to time). I don't know, I just get so annoyed with the way things are. I know change is inevitable but some things shouldn't change too much. I guess it all comes down to lacking discipline. Sniffy nose? Call off work/school. Stub your toe? Call off work/school. New video came coming out? Call off work/school on release night. THAT'S NOT HOW IT SHOULD BE. Hell, I've worked where I'm at for going on 5 years and I can count on one hand the times I've taken a sick day. Sure I wake up and debate taking a day off every once in a while but do I do it? Nope, because I have a sense of responsibility. Responsibility to take care of a community of 80+ residents, responsibility to be there for my team if they need me (as I type this at work ). Anywho, I could go on but I'm sure I've gone on long enough. Cub on, good buddies!

Never viewed the video in question because it has been removed, but can only guess by reading these comments.
Maybe it's the dumbing down of America? Liberalism is a disease! When I see the values of people being twisted up & what's happening to this country makes me want to cry. The political correctness mode of thinking & acting is being forced down everyone's throat. God forgive if you raise your voice to correct your own child, you may wind up in jail. All this filters through the mindset of the young generation. It's beyond common sense. Nik,

I grew up on a farm just as my dad did. He still farms today and my brother and I help out when we can. Never once did my brother or I tell dad or grandpa that we didn't want to do something asked of us. We knew there was work to be done and we did it. Is there things we didn't want to do? Of course there was but we did it. No one wants to shovel manure or castrate hogs.
I've worked in a tool & die shop for 20 years now and I've seen many young apprentices come and go who had no work ethic or willingness to shut their mouths and listen to the veteran toolmakers who are trying to teach them. A lot of them come in with the attitude that they already know everything. Apparently, the internet and Youtube has created a generation of geniuses.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
