You could get fancy and make a rectangular exhaust to exit between the slats on the grill. Just my 2 cents but that is what I would do after all you have put into it. At least it would keep the grill clean. This Bud's for you.

That's a good idea I hadn't really thought of. I think I'll see how this works out first. I'm about burned out on working on it. I really want to paint it but need to wait for the funds to build up. It'll look so much better with a paint job. I did hit the front of the frame with some yellow, got tired of seeing the bare steel.

Boy that's a sharp looking tractor! I'm not trying to sidetrack you, but what color you going to paint it? Bet if you did the grille in silver and did red and white that would be awesome! Just a thought, looks great in yellow too!

You are right, that would look cool. I knew the grille had that look but I didn't realize the resemblance until you pointed it out. I'm pretty sure I'll stay with the yellow, it's my favorite on the cubs, but I do like red.

In the diagram above, part #14, I was able to move it over to the right side and use it with the original linkage from the 1860. I tapped a hole and used a bolt to hold it in place to find the correct position for it. I will drill and pin it once I get the tractor running and can make final adjustments.

The power steering wasn't to bad. I used one out of a 2072. I was able to use the bracket that was with it. I cut part off the bracket off then heated, bent and drilled holes to match up with the mounting holes of the manual steering. I will have to shorten the steering column a few inches as it is way to long.

The third picture is of the original set up on the 1860.

It's getting there, but still a lot to do.
nice work i would like to one day change to caliper brake like those. btw i am in hickory nc
