Default Another dirty dog in the shop

Brought the 1811 in the shop today. Wanna get started on diagnosing some of the issues with it. And they are plenty.
For starters I removed the tiller, and the 26" tires, and replaced with some skinnies so I can get around it easier.
First off the remote filter lines are in poor condition. Leakers. Looks like a cork gasket is in order for this tractor, and seems like the relief valves are a leaking too.
No brake return spring to be found. And I noticed the lights are a little wonky as well... And I'm pretty sure there will be numerous other things as I get deeper into it.
Well that's a start. Need to wait for some warm weather to get it outside and give it a bath. Might be awhile...

Looks to be a nice tractor. You will make that machine "like new" in no time!

It's in pretty good condition, overall. It'll be a awhile, need to finish up the 782 first.

No, No, not yet. Just wanted to get this one in the shop, and get started on it's issues while I'm waiting on a couple things for the 782.
Had nothing to do in the shop right now, other than wait, so figured today was as good as any to get the 1811 in.

Don't know why but I like the photo of the mismatched tires! Reminds me of guys pulling the dual off the furrow side to do some plowing with farm tractors.

Is the tiller made by Cadet? You know, a "fun" upgrade would be an engine with electric start, you wouldn't have to run the cables too far to get to the tractor battery either. Just sayin......

Why am I guessing that you will be sending the check valves out for re-build?

Looks like that thing needs a hood ornament. Can you come down to my place and finish the 982 I started over a year ago? Looks great Todd & I enjoy all of your rebuilds.

Looks like you got your work cut out for you. My project 1872 looked as bad or worse from the oil leaks. How far are you going with this one? Just do not let it turn into a while I am here I might as well fix this, things have a way of snowballing as I am sure you know. My 1872 rebuild started out as just fix it up so I could use it as a dedicated snow blower tractor and look at where it is today. Good luck with this one and stay warm.

You are correct again Sam. I wish I had that crystal ball of yours to see in the future.

Yeah, it needs a hood ornament, know where I can get one? Sorry my friend, but wouldn't want to take the fun away from you working on the 982...

Well Tom, I know how that goes, one thing leads to another, and so on, but what ever needs to be fixed will get fixed. My father pounded something in my head years ago.
He would say, "You do it right, the best you can, or don't do it at all".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
