Opinions of Cub Cadet LTX 1046KW.
I saw a CC LTX 1046KW for sale in an ad & thought about going to look at it. It has a 21.5hp Kawasaki engine with almost 200 hours on it. Owner says that it runs & cuts well. No rust through on the deck, but I would have to see.
Are these good ones to own ? Any specific problems with this model ?? Thank you. |

I have worked on a number of models similar to this one. The majority of problems occur, like anything else, from lack of maintenance,
especially the ones with Kohler Courage engines, in this case, not a factor. This is your typical MTD built lawn tractor and there are many other brands out there that are identical except for body style and paint color, so don't get all gooey just because it sez Cub Cadet. The most usual non-routine maintenance on these consists of the replacement of the drive belt which can give the unexperienced a hassle. 200 hours is probably typical for it's age, but if well maintained should not be a factor. |

Thank you. I don't get gooey over CC's, but I do if they have Kawa engines. My #1529 with a 19hp Kawa has 480 hours on it. " Rusty" [ his name ] runs great & cuts good, but I have had to patch the decking, hence the name, " Rusty."
The mower looks good & I may go look at it. It is almost 2 hours way from me, & seems priced good at $600. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
