Just for the hell of it I bought a bottle of Bars Leak rear main seal repair and dumped it in the tranny. Cost me a whole $8.94. Figured for that huge sum of money what have I got to loose. Well damn after about 30 mins mowing with it I noticed it was getting better, by the time I was done about 3 hours it feels as good as new and the howl is gone. It claims to swell seals so I figured the PS system in these things is nothing but a bunch of O-Rings. Am I recommending this, no I'm going telling you what I did. Now for a long term test to see how it holds up or if it causes any problems.
Well hey... if it works it works! It will be interesting to see how long it works out.... but you haven't lost anything.. Years ago when an old C6 or TH400 would start slipping or not shifting right we would pour a 20oz coke bottle with half laquer thinner and half auto trans fluid into the dipstick hole... it worked 90 percent of the time... some got 2 or 3 more months.. some got 2 or 3 more years!

One of my 1872s has the dreaded steering column leak where the hytran comes out the top below the wheel occasionally...wonder if this could add some time before a teardown and re-sealing.....

It may.Just for the record I have Rotella T 15-40 in my tractor. I don't know how the Bar's Leak will work with Hy Tran. My guess is it should be OK but im not making recommendations.

Hey Sam, Just wondering what your reason for running Rotella T 15-40 in your hydro? (Please guys, I do not want to start a heated debate on the various oils so do not start one.) Are there benefits to using it? I have access to it as we run it in our farm tractors. We also use Hi Tran Ultra so that is what I currently been using.
Just curious.
Thanks

Don't have a Case dealer close and the Cub dealer pissed me off. I've used series 3 engine oil for years in the Sundstrand pumps on my concrete trucks and Rotella meets those specs.

Thanks Sam. If there are not any benefits over using the Hy Tran I will continue using it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
