For rattle cans, I use Rustoleum's Ultra Cover 2x in Marigold, for the yellow. I'd say it's just a tad darker than the early yellow, but looks real close, and will match up good with a slightly faded later yellow. Plain Rustoleum in Canvas White is a close match to the early white, and their Almond White matches the later white on the red ones.

I have a 100 that's darker yellow than anything I've sprayed out on test panels. I'm at a loss on that one. I just need to touch up a few spots.

I had a nasty run in with TCS over their Majik crap they call paint. I decided to repaint a John Deere with it using their JD green and it was so bad I had to remove all of it and respray it with real JD paint. I called the company and told them that on an 80 degree summer day the paint was forming little mounds instead of spreading out into a film and he had the balls to tell me to shake the can more. He also said he would send me some new nozzles for the remaining cans but of course he never did. I have redone 8 JD's and one CC and I can tell you that people who use after market paint really hurt the next guy who wants to repaint his tractor. If you use the factory brand then all you have to do to repaint is to sand and fill any holes. If you use Rustolem or Valspar, both good paints, then you have to do that and then use primer. That means an extra coat or two of finish paint because the primer will not be the correct color. I know the JD and CC paint is high but from someone who uses a lot of it to me it is worth every penny. Also, my JD dealer who is also the CC dealer will give me a 10% discount on the paint if I buy five or more cans.

Another thumbs down here for Majic. Very difficult to get any kind of decent finish, goes airborne and hangs around forever and lays down overspray on everything in a 20 ft radius. As an added bonus, it's tough not to get runs and once it dries, all the sharp edges have almost zero paint coverage.
Miss the Valspar paints. |

With my Suburban and 147 restorations, my system HAD been to match auto paint to a selected rattle can color. In the case of the 147, I initially picked Valspar CC yellow and matched the auto color to that. I often paint small batches of things like control levers/rods, etc., and don't want to break out the HVLP and deal with the resulting cleanup and breakage/waste of the hardener which has to be used quickly once opened.
I actually called Majic this morning to let them know their TSC offerings weren't cutting the mustard. The guy sounded sympathetic enough, and his response included "government" and "lower VOCs." There ya go. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
