Default Another N.W. PA Cub

I just bought a Cub Cadet for My son to learn how to mow with. I'm not quite sure what model it is. Other than it is a 16 hp hydro from the 90's. The I.D. plate says MODEL # 142-653-100 MFG DATE D162G3 The tractor appears to well taken of with only 486 hrs. Now all we need is some dry weather to give her a shake down run. I look foward to being a member of Only Cub Cadets. Thanks, eddy622611

Welcome to our Forum........

The factory code of 142-653-100 is for model 1641. This rolled out of the factory in Apr 1992.

eddy,
Good luck getting to mow this week. I am in Albion and we have been looking for the arc. Nice job on getting a Cub for your son. Funny I was thinking of buying my son one too.
I know where there is a 127 that needs some care the guy wants $250 for it. Does anyone think it is worth that? Doesn't sound like to bad of a price. It has some heat damage from a fire. Seat and steering wheel have melted a little. It runs and has a 48 inch mower. Charging system is not working, and tires are fair only.
Hope you have a great day!
Regards,
Chris

NW PA is the best place for a Cub... in my opinion anyway. Good to have you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
