Default 2135 rear bearings

I'm fixing up my 2135 to sell it. The rear axle seals are in need of replacement, it's more than just a few drops between uses now (original seals). Should I replace the bearings while I have it apart? I don't hear any unusual noises when driving it around.

In my opinion, if you can't feel any play or roughness in the rotation of the bearings, then they are probably good to remain. But that will be better determined when you get them out.

I have been contemplating replacing the seals on a 2140 that are only showing dampness around the ends of the axle tubes. Looks to me like the axle tubes would have to be completely pulled off to get the axles out. Not a joyful time from what I can see, but never did it before, so maybe I'm wrong. Let us know how yours works out.

In case you don't have it, here is a link to the Service Manual. Look to page 5-88 about getting the axles out....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
