Got me some hoses crimped up this morning at the local hydraulics shop.. fortunately I know the guys and they let me bring a handful of fittings home and mock everything up.. just had to go back this morning and get them crimped. all that worked out good.. Took the old driveshaft and threw it in the trusty South Bend.. turned the front of it down so it would fit in my 1/2 inch Milwaukee drill (driveshaft was already ruined on the front from a worn out ball bushing).. reversed the drill, powered everything up ... and much to my disbelief it all worked!!.. so far none of my home brewed tubing and flaring is leaking! Tested the hydro, the lift and the steering.. all seems good! I had never run this thing before.. engine was not even bolted in when I got it.. I was just assuming the pump was ok... and it seems to be.. I'm going in happy tonite! I'll run it some more tomorrow and check for leaks again... I gotta have one somewhere!

One wheel and tire done!
Not much progress here! Did manage to clean, sand and paint one rim and mount one of these purty Firestones!
These tires even though they are 4 ply have a helluva stiff bead! Fought me pretty hard but I did manage to mount it without scuffing my new paint! Still got the other one to go so I'm sure i'll manage to screw it up somehow! These will likely go in the corner for now... hate to put them on the tractor till I'm a little closer to done! I just couldn't wait to see one mounted!

That is a sweet looking tire setup. I would like to have two of them, maybe four!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
