Default Cheap $ 6.00 added weight gizmo.

With my 280lbs. stout torso on my # 122 in snow & wheel weights w/chains I didn't want to go fancy with suitcase weights. So for $6.00 I just came up with some 3/4" pipe & 45lbs. of iron weights. The weights were so rusty & looked like crap. I brushed'em & sprayed some left over Bed Liner spray.

Not fancy but?

That needs to be braced to something so you don't bend the drawbar; you are applying a bending load to it that it is not designed for.

It looks like it might twist at the T fitting and maybe swivel at the hitch pin. If the hitch can take it, it looks like a good idea with maybe an added support.

I snug it down REAL THIGHT with a lock washer & lock tite.
It looks a mile long but its only 8" away from the back of the hitch, 3/4" pipe should be enough to hold it since its flush on the underside & to the back of the hitch. I squirted in some lock tite on the threads.

We'll see?

Nik,
Good idea on the Locktite. I was thinking tack weld or setscrew, but, Locktite is much better!!

That's roughly equivalent to 150# tongue weight of a trailer, which is really pushing it. If you go over bumps it may start drooping. Even a cable or something from the top of the vertical tube to the holes for the 3-point pivot pin on either side of the seat bracket would be enough to keep you from bending the hitch plate.

Whoa dere? 150 lbs. Is alot. Didn't think of those #.

My drive is as flat as an bowling alley, so we shall see what happens after a few good runs?
If it holds fine, but then if it doesn't then I can see a extension to the seat bracket.

Thanks,

Nik,

Thank you for the offer. But I have an extra hitch hook up just in case.

I took it for a test drive for about 15min., yesterday in the yard. I saw no problems with the set up. That's why I mounted the 3/4" pipie under the hitch. To create upward pressure on it. No movement of the pipe since it's got lock tite on all threads & & quite pleased with it.

Now if it would only snow? Last year at this time we had a blizzard & had OVER 24".

Nik,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
