only 11.1 hours and it blew up, wtf. that is unacceptable. how does that happen 11 hours it still brand new. no excuse for such poor qaulity. what engine is it? kohler courage? i hear that engine is not very well built and to get a good newer kohler you have to buy a command pro. still nothing like the old k series engines that will work hard for many years between rebuilds.
11 hours is unacceptable for even the lowest qaulity engines. you get allot more time than that out of cheap little briggs pushmower engine. i have a qauntum on my pressure washer that has lasted me many years and still runs just fine. by the way where are you from in ny? i live in java, ny. i would either part out that new machine or try to fix it cheap, but i wouldnt put a whole lot of money into it. they arent made well anymore, just run of the mill mtd poor qaulity junk. you are right, buy an older machine. go either IH cub or ccc. ccc is anything made before MTD took complete control and intergrated it into the rest of their lines. now they share parts with the cheaper MTD machines, they arent even shaft drive until you get into the more expensive machines. even the more expensive ones are made cheaply. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
