Default 50" Deck

This cub 149 Tractor that I just bought came with a 50" deck. The number on the deck tag reads 501-U1111. Is this a regular 50" deck? I looked at the belt charts and could not find that number. I need to buy a belt that goes from PTO to middle deck pulley. Thanks and have a great day.

My bet is the tag reads "50A", not "501". Look up that deck. It's in the book.

The first generation 44 and 50 decks did not have a letter suffix. The outer spindle pulleys are smaller on the first generation 44 and 50 decks. These decks came available, I believe, around 1973.

Interesting. Pto to center pulley should be the same as a 50A/C though correct?

The drive pulley? No, they were different between the A and C decks.

Beth, I did not know if it had the suffix "A" or not, but it made sense as the later ones had a "C". Maybe it's just a scratch....

My 169 came with a first gen 44 and an early 1650, I have, has a first gen 50. Mr Bob's deck ID plate could be scratched as you mentioned.

I only have one 1st gen 50 and it's in the barn. I actually just put it there yesterday, lol. But I didn't look that close at it. It likely will be stripped of anything usable, and scrapped. It was pretty rough.

501-U1111
That would be the First Generation deck.

The IH/CC 50 Inch decks were:

1st Gen = Model 50 introduced for the 1x8/9 Series. Mechanical PTO
2nd Gen = Model 50A introduced for the Quietline Series. Electric PTO
3rd Gen = Model 50C introduced for the 82 Series. Elec PTO w/ 5/8" Drive Belt.

Yeah, the A has a 3/8" and the C has a 5/8". Just figured the "A" and the no-suffix would both have 3/8" and the same length drive belt since they both would have been for 3/8" drive PTOs (1x8/9 and Quietlines) and mounted to the same subframes (I'm assuming?).

And that p/n that Beth posted there looks like it's the same for the 44", 50", 44A and 50A according to messicks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
