I must have fixed a lot of tanks by people who don't know how to use it then. Well, not fixed them after that junk was in them. Threw them out and got another tank.....
I'll never put it in a fuel tank. I can weld, solder, braze or use JB weld, but I'm not using that stuff.

It won't rust if you keep gas in it...... water is what rusts a tank.

Well I am another one who dislikes that stuff.
I had to remove what was left of it in a mo'sikkil tank, what a job/mess that was.
it promoted more rust to form under it, making the proper repair more extensive.

We use Caswell gas tank coating at work and we've never had an issue. It's a two component coating so it's hardened and it dries hard as a rock. It's available in clear or black, I prefer the black because it's much easier to look in the tank and see that it's all coated.

O well different strokes for different folks. What works for some don't work for others.

I used Red Kote on my 72's gas tank about 5 years ago because it was riddled with pinholes. Too many to repair easily, though I suppose I might have tried to solder them. I figured if it fails, I'll get another tank. It's held up for 5 years OK. We'll see how long it lasts.

Are you using alcohol free fuel? I reckon the booze in the fuel might not be too kind to the Red Kote as it isn't kind with many things in the fuel system. Just wondering.....

As a matter of fact, I do use non-ethanol fuel in all my cubs and lawn equipment. Fortunately, here in Virginia, it is still available.

I will note that use of Red Kote is kind of a solution of last resort. It is not a preferred fix for a leaking fuel tank, but may have value for some situations where alternatives are either not available or are not affordable.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
