149?
Have an opportunity to purchase this. Its a 149. Told it has run recently but carb floods. Im not worried about that. From a user point of view wanted to see who likes them and why and who dislikes them and why. Also I am looking for a machine to do a nut and bolt resto on and not sure which models really deserve that kind of attention. I'm guessing an O would be more deserving than a 149 but what units are more desirable of the 100 and up series?.

Here is my other candidate for to buy and resto,
147. yeah its cleaner by far. more money also.. which one would you guys resto? ignoring the condition...

If I had to choose it would be the 149 due to the hydraulic lift, the wide frame's are also easier to work on and better built in my opinion. I don't really care for any of the older hydro tractors because I'm left handed and steer with my left hand and find it very uncomfortable to steer with my right hand and run the hydro with my left, it makes me feel like I'm not really in control.

Both are nice in their own way. Does the 149 come with anything? Deck? The 149 has hydraulic lift so that’s a big plus. 147 is cool being the only nf with the 14 in it with the special frame knotch. Here’s what some including me will say....................get both

I have both a 147 and a 149. I am in the process of restoring the 149. They are pretty similar. The 147 is supposed to have an electric deck lift, but that one was converted to Manual, and the 149 has a hydraulic lift. The hydraulic lift would definitely be nicer for any work which requires you to lift the implement often, but just for mowing, it probably won't be much of a difference. The 149s are also easier to work on with the removable tunnel cover.
If it were me, I would choose the 147, but I am partial to that series. You already have a 126, so if you want more variety, the 149 looks a little different. This would be a tough decision for me, since they are my 2 favorite models.

I would go with the 149. The hydraulic lift is nice if you plan to use any rear attachments/ implements. I prefer the looks of the 149 over the 147.

If you are planning to resto for a flip, then neither one. Restored cubs rarely bring the money that someone has in them, unless it is the labor of love. If you are a younger fellow, then the 147 has the special frame and would be MY choice for restoring because it was a special cub with the notched frame to accommodate the larger 14 hp in the narrow frame. If you are an older fella, then the 149 has the hydraulic lift built in and is quite helpful for the heavier attachments. When restored, they are probably both worth about the same amount.
I'm going to use some incorrect grammar on you now, so brace yourself..... Why you no post this thread so we vote? It would certainly be easier than filtering through all the posts to help with your choice? Cub Cadet 123
