Default May have goofed.

As I have said before, Cub Cadets are hard to find in my area. A man showed up at the house just before dark today wanting to sell a 682 so I went to his house with him and mowed with it, seemed to have decent power and over all it is pretty solid mechanically, so I bought it knowing it had a single cylinder Kohler engine in it and believing it should be a twin cylinder. I haven't been able to find the model number on the engine (the sticker is unreadable) but will find some numbers tomorrow. The price was cheap enough to allow me to make what ever changes I need to. By the serial number it appears to have been built in 1980. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

I think I just got to doubting myself after I bought it, I knew it didn't have the right engine in it. I have mowed my yard with it since I posted and having nothing to compare it to ( I have never used a 682) it seems to do just fine. I still don't know what the engine is, my wife's dad had to be put in the hospital and all playing in the shop came to an abrupt halt. Is Arkansas the promised land for cubs, hardly, if you find one in the Ozark Mountains you had better buy it. It will be a long time before you get another chance and the hillbilly engineering is awful, I'll try to get you a picture of a hillbilly lift assist when I get one of the 682. This is probably the only time I will ever have anyone knocking on my door to sell me a cub.

I have lived here all my life. (56 years) My old man would beat the lid off his coffin and come after me if I did some of this stuff. I thought they only put shoes on horses. lol.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
