Default Need suggestions for my 149 1" bore front wheels

I messed up and ordered a set of front axles for my 149 that were on a 1650. Now my 3/4" bore wheels won't fit the 1" axles. What wheels and tires will fit. Any one had this problem? I really like the 1" axles over my stock 3/4" ones, they should hold up better.

I purposely ordered those axles for my 149,,,
but,,,
at the same time, I ordered new wheels, and bearings.

The front end turned out great!!

Now that I remember,, I ordered a new axle also,, I had snapped the one that was on the tractor!!

Too many "wheelies",, I was young,,,

The Cub Cadet Tractors from the 70/100 Series through the Mid Quietline Series, all had 3/4" front axles. Starting at Serial Number 632502 in the Quietline production, Cub Cadet switched to 1" front Axles.

As I see, you have two options. (A) Get the correct axles (spindles) or (B) have the one you have, drilled out.

I believe what semper fi is saying is that his problem is with the old wheels onto the new spindles, not new spindles onto old axle. Seems like a crap shoot, either another set of new 3/4" spindles or a whole new set of 1" wheels and bearings, plus ya gotta swap the tires to the new wheels.

One thing I would consider is, if I ever wanted to put narrow tires on the front. I don't believe that the narrow wheels came in 1" bearing size. Maybe I'm wong.

Correct, I want to keep the 1" axles and get new wheels with the 1" bores. I have found a set for $75 and am seriously thinking of dropping the hammer on them unless you folks see a problem. Same size tires, but slightly worn. After they die, I considering going to tri rib ones.

Update: I bought the used wheels and tires. Problem solved. Thank you all for your help … this restoration is starting to become a money pit. Lol

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
