New Member & my history with Cubs
First had a Cub 100 Dad purchased in the early 1960's mowed neighbors lawns and did yard chores built a pull cart from scrap to haul a trim mower. Had a nice little business did all the maintenance on the 100 learned a lot about that machine and mechanics doing oil changes, changing worn belts, greasing mower spindles,& sharpening blades.
Had other Cubs I bought, repaired, repainted in Dad's garage and then sold during my high school years for extra cash. I still own a 1981 Cub Cadet 682 purchased in 1982 from the first owner. Has the original K17S Kohler opposed twin with 534 hours and still runs great. The tractor has 95% of it's original red paint also have the 44c mower, H42 sno-blower, 42in. dozer blade, weights and chains that came with the tractor. A JD 430 Diesel does all the yard work now the Cub is more or less a "shed queen". It's nice to share Cub Cadet memories ! Ted

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
