Default Hi! New to Cub Cadets and this forum!

Hi everyone!

I’ve been looking around in this forum for a couple weeks now. I just recently bought my first Cub Cadet, it is a 149. Needs some work but it appears to be all there and the tin is in pretty good shape! The throttle shaft has quite a bit of play to it so I ordered a new carb and should have that tomorrow. Then after a new battery, fluids, and filters, I’ll try to see if she’ll start. I have been in contact with Dave Kirk and Kirk engines, I believe once I get my Oliver 70 restoration done, I’ll start on rebuilding this Cubs engine like he has.

Thanks guys! I’m bad about getting on here and checking. I will have to see about how I can add pictures. I’ve never posted anything to a forum before. I used the tractor for some snow removal it worked great! I filled both rear tires with windshield washer fluid, didn’t need chains or additional weight! I have completely went through the mower deck. New blades, bearings, seals, belts, patched a piece that was rotted out and new idler wheels.
Now to figure out why the deck is was out of level anytime it is suspended, it’s good when I set it down on the idler wheels.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
