Hello, new guy on the block, Fort Worth, Tx. I just bought a 2284 with 60" mower. Planning on a 3 point with brush hog. I just bought 4 acres that is completely overgrown. I will post pictures tonight hopefully. The 2284 is in great shape other than weathering damage.
Sorry about the double post.

Thank you. Trying to order an air filter on the cub cadet website. I put the model number in and there are about 8 air filters. I know that they came with different motors. Mine has the 23hp Kohler. Should I call them during working hours to be sure about the part.

Thank you everyone. No part number on the air cleaner. I bought a tune up kit on ebay and everything was right. I picked up an original owners manual on ebay also. Just starting to dig in a little. I had no idea there was a group that has all the info I need in one place. I bought this 2284 with 1224 hours on it for 500.00. The more I learn the more I think I stole it. everything works. It previous owner just change the fluids and filters. The property I am clearing is fairly rough and the mower will not work well for now. I am having trouble posting pics. My original are 10 meg so I will have to reduce them first.

Are we allowed to mention the green and yellow units. I just had a JD 318 given to me. Fairly complete, hasn't been started in several years.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
