Default New to Cub Cadet in Illinois.

Just purchased my first Cub Cadet last week. A zero turn 50 inch with 161 hour on a Kawasaki motor. I went against my family and a long history of John Deere. Well I mowed yesterday and I have to say it was on of the most pleasing mowings I have ever had. Mower worked and ran effortlessly and I adapted to the control of the machine quite easily. The Lawn looked incredible after finishing. So far I am still smiling from my new acquisition. Cheers everyone!

Welcome welcome! Nice to see another fellow Illinoisan on here. Like Pete said, this is a fantastic source for any and all questions you may have. If someone doesn't know the answer, undoubtedly, someone will at least know someone else who does. Congrats on the cub and enjoy the ride!

Waving from Northern Illinois.

How do you tell if someone is from Illinois? They don't pronounce the "s".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
