Default I just acquired a HDS 2155..

Hi all,

I recently acquired a HDS 2155 that I am looking to get back to as good as new.

Long story short, its lived a pretty abused life and I am looking for quite a few things.

I am hoping that I may be able to find some knowledge and maybe contribute a bit.

More information and hopefully pictures to come!

2155 is a decent lawn mower. It's not up to doing ground engaging work but it has a nice simple engine and drive line. Shrewcub is parting out a 2166 and has some parts that may interest you. Here is the link to his ad.

I understand that its not the old school sought after cub, but I'm looking for light duty, and seems that it is still a step above most of the more affordable stuff that's available today which is why I've decided to do this(I got it for free )

Unfortunately I'm located in the midwest so I wont really make sense to get parts from Virginia, but I appreciate the help there.

Items that need to be addressed at this point:

Paint/rust on the body

Side panels are twisted/bent up

The deck is absolutely worn out, rusted, and has holes. I have yet to decide whether to find a replacent(probably the best route) or to weld it up myself and give it a good paint job.

I am unsure if the hydrostatic setup has ever been serviced(doubtful) so I would also assume that I will want to do that at some point.

Otherwise, just normal wear stuff like tires, oil, air filter, maybe a carb rebuild along with getting everything lubed and adjusted correctly.

I am definitely going to be getting photos up asap!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
