Default New from Southern Illinois

Hi, I am the proud owner of a Cub Cadet 2084. I ended up getting it at a rummage sale and have went through and fixed most of its issues from the previous owner. (did not charge, had to be started with push button, moron drilled hole through middle of dash for push button, governer out of whack, etc.) I mowed with it for a season and it did extremely well.

I never appreciated how crappy modern mowers had become until I got to own something like this.

As time goes on, I will be trying to fix this mower up and maybe getting a blade attatchment for the front. Hopefully I can get some help along the way.

I made my transition from Craptacular to Cub Cadet about 15 years ago.

Lots of great info here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
