Thumbs up

Hello! Welcome to OCC! Well, I have family west of Libby, Montana, and have lived out there a number of years! Very nice country!!!

I have a 1450 Quiet Line that is my pride and joy! These IH Cub Cadets are the last models for the heavy cast iron grill, and are the first to have the enclosed engine! I love those steel side panels! !

These 1450's are a true work horse!

The 1450 is a great tractor.. We have a 1975 model 1450 that has been in continuous service for us since 1976.. Mom still uses it weekly!

Check your air gap on the PTO... that may be your only problem... also check for proper voltage at the clutch... If all that checks out you may need a clutch but I doubt it... I don't think I have ever seen a bad clutch on a quietline... seen lots of them on the later twins...

That part on the hood that is broken should be available used at a reasonable price from any of the sponsors at the top of the page... it would be tough to weld

Hi Neil! Another new guy from Idaho, I just joined OCC although I have learned a lot of stuff from these guys over the last couple years lurking. I am in the south west. I wasn't really a cub guy when I found my 149 at an auction not running, but I took a chance and that beast sold me on the old cubs, its an awesome little tractor.

I've had my cub for a few years now and I can tell you out here the old ones are pretty rare. I have been contemplating driving all the way back east after more cubs and parts! I have a different style snow blower, not a cub part, that I didn't get mounted before this snow and I have to say I'm envious! My driveway is 1/4 mile long and uphill.

Looks like another couple weeks before we see ground again...

Thanks guys. I did find a hood extension at one of the sponsors for about $50 and I think I will buy it this week. I was thinking of adding a 3 point hitch to the back and building a box blade for the 1450 but I'm not sure how the 3-point hitch operates or if I would be able to operate it independently of the snow thrower. I would want to be able to lower and raise them independently. Got a new scraper edge for the snow thrower this week. Will install it as soon as I get it primed and painted.

DK149, you aren't the only one envious. I see my neighbors all out with their walk behinds giving me the look when they see me clearing snow. I have cleared quite a few of their driveways as well as the piles the city plows have conveniently pushed in front of their driveways and sidewalks. So far it has earned me some cold beers and warm fresh cookies. I am a big fan of both of those things.

Cold beers and warm cookies are indeed a fine thing! Nice of you to help out in this crazy winter, next year I will be better prepared as well!

On my 149 I built a 3 point to use some Brinley attachments, but indeed it uses the deck lift cylinder to raise and lower the three point.

I am planning to add a secondary pump for a front loader (I need) and power steering (I want). There are some great posts in the homebuilt and custom sections that can get a guy planning all sorts of mischief!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
