Yes um.. I'm told it's best to wipe down with some oil before painting.. is that good? Lol

I will do a restore on a cub soon tho with correct colors and such. Maybe over the winter.

Oil works great, it really helps the dirt stick to the panel.

On the underside I definitely will use Por-15 or similar. On top of that I think I might use Rustoleums Aluminum. I used it once on a flatbed wrecker I had and could not believe how tough it was. Dragging cars and trucks up and down, some with no wheels and wrecks barely scuffed it. It sprays on really smooth and gets super hard. Topside will just be rusty metal primer and some single stage white I have hanging around. Maybe paint the guards yellow.

I pulled the motor out of my 129 to fix two mounting bolts that were broken off.

Default Head gasket

I pulled the head off my 127 K301 for a blown head gasket. I put the head on a piece of 320 sandpaper over glass and made it smooth. It was warped for sure. Put it all back together and am listening to it run for a half hour so I can retourqe the head and see if this time it holds. This is the fourth head gasket replacement counting the blown gasket I got it with.

If you never resurfaced the head before then that's likely the reason it kept blowing, hope it holds for you this time.

Over the last few days: stripped, primed, and painted all the engine tins and block for my donor 12hp for my 105. Also pulled the fenders, rear trim plate, seat mount and a few other parts and did the same to those too.

Watching a pile of rust turn into that beautiful yellow will never get old. Promise I'll try to take enough pics to make a restoration thread on this one!
