Rocking 416, etal:

FYI IH Louisville fiscal & production years normally began on 01 Oct for the following model/sales year. 1970 production began on 01 Oct 1969!

Your serial number was actually produced in January 1970 (probably the 3d week) according to the Louisville Production records.

It's a 1970 either way you look at it! 1969 model/sales year production ended in Sept 1969 and thus 1969 has absolutely nothing to do with your tractor as far as the year is concerned.

Having said all that, the 1x7 series, including your model, was produced from 1969-1971, so the tractors of that series are the same regardless of the actual date of production.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
