Default 1450 machine code differences

Specific to those with 1450 tractors ..........

I obtained a 1450 QL with an undocumented machine code. When searching for parts, a 2050065 or 2050660 is listed but my 2050066 is not. I'm curious why the different machine codes were used and what initiated the change. If others with 1450 tractors could list their nameplate tag info (complete with serial number), I'd like to see if there is a sequence that would explain the different numbers. There has to be a lot of owners out there that have 1450 tractors but I have not heard of many that have a machine code like mine.

IHCubCadet147, you mentioned you have an 0660 from July 1977. Can you list the actual serial number so, as I accumulate more info, I can place your number in the correct sequence in my database? The changes you mentioned that IHCC made to that model could very well be what explains the different numbers. Does your tractor have 1" axles?, and aluminum front casting?.

MattC, did you get a chance to get your serial number off your tractor?

I'm just trying to see if anything can explain why the changes and if they are in sequence, or more related to options, or just a production run timing issue that they changed the number because they decided on a different format. I refurbished a dependable working machine but those that want to "restore" to factory specs might find information like this helpful. I could publish my results if others would find it useful.

There were a number of production changes in the Quietline series tractors. The Front Spindles and Relief Valves were just some.

The "0066" must be a oddity. I can't find it in any of the documentation I have.

My 1450 is a "0660".

548037 looks like it was made in March of 1975. Thus, I would suspect it would be the same as a "0065".

Roland, can you supply your serial number. I'm curious if any of the 0660 units line up date wise before an 0066 unit. I'm logging all the info I receive to get a good picture of the production run (date of manufacture) of the different machine codes.

Here's a link from another thread that someone reports an 2050066 kind code.

https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...83&postcount=1

I was wondering if there was a possibility of a typo? Like a common accounting error?

My serial number is 613283. Yes, it has the 1” spindles and aluminum casting.

Thanks for the info. Anyone else have a 1450 that could share machine code/serial number info? Especially curious of the 0065 machines and where their serial numbers lie, if any are later than my 0066 machine code.

Billy-O, Thanks for the link. That's the first 0066 that I've seen. Serial number close to mine (bit earlier), Still curious if the 0065 units are before any of the 0066 units.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
