Brakes on my 100
Now that I've got the 100 started, its time to get it to stop. First off, how much should the brake lever be moving when I depress the clutch/brake pedal? So far I've sprayed some PB blaster on the lever and the adjusting bolt/nut. By the way, the brake lever is hardly moving at this time. Thanks

I believe there is a specification listed in the Chassis Service Manual.
Go to the Technical Library Section and down load the Manual for the 70/100.

So I've looked at the manual as recommended and the diagram shows how much the pedal has to move to engage the brake, but I'm wondering if anyone with a model 100 can tell me how much the brake lever moves when the brake is engaged. Thanks

Is the brake on your 100 not engaging or disengaging?
Some of the internal brake systems have the piston sticking. Page 2 of this topic https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...le+Dick&page=2 shows disassembly-assembly of the brake system. I don't have a measurement. the shop manual shows how to adjust the brake system.

Thanks for the reply. My brakes are not engaging. As long as I have room I can coast to a stop! Right now I'm just spraying PB blaster on the brake lever pivot area and on the adjustment bolt and locking nut. This is my first and only Cub and I was also wondering if y'all use a lift to work on yours or jack stands or just work off the shop floor? Since this 100 has a mower deck attached kinda cramped for space. Thanks

Removing the deck will be helpful, do you have any pictures of the area where the brake is?

Possibilities are.....
A. Roll pin (not shown) thru part #11 could be sheared. B. Adjusting bolt (not shown) thru part #8 is missing or not adjusted correctly. C. (most likely) Brake piston, part #3 is rusted/gummed up/corroded in it's cylinder and cannot move. D. (unlikely) Brake pucks (#1) are worn out. |

Thanks for the pics in your thread Merk. Thanks Ironman for your diagram. I might want to think about removing the mower deck as it is definitely gonna be in the way. Right now I'm going to keep on "blasting" and see if things loosen up a bit. Thanks

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
