Were do you find the year of the mower?
How about snapping a picture of the Chassis Model/Serial Tag and posting it here. We can figure it out.

Amazing! Never thought it would have been this but it was the headlights. Both bulbs have been burned out and I never thought anything of it since I dont need them. I removed moth bulbs and it’s running like new! Thank you everyone for responding with all great advice.

Glad ya found it.. Makes perfect sense. Besides the Pto and the starter the headlights are next in line to draw the most amperage.

I have doubts that the bulbs are the direct cause of the fuse blowing problem.
The reason being is that the headlights on your model have their own circuit out of the alternator, that is why you they only light when the engine is running. They do not interact with the other D.C. circuitry of the blown fuse in any way.
However, the contacts in the key switch turns the headlights on and off. My guess is that you could have a flaky key switch and the fused circuit was getting crossed over to the headlight circuit and the bulbs were creating a low resistance path to ground.
Since it's running now and you don't need headlights it's a moot point, but something to keep in mind should the problem reappear.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
