Default It didn't go far!

Perhaps some of you wondered where the 4 digit recoil start Original went the MrMiller had for sale on our board. I'm proud to say I'm the new owner. It was a deal too good to pass up and practically in my back yard. Only 50 minutes drive from my place to his.
Serial number 1629, all original except the carb, including all the factory dealership documents and warranty card that match the decal on the hood. By the way the warranty card shows the engine serial number that's on the K161T and nothing appears to have ever modified or changed. It runs great too!
Thanks Martin!

I would have loved to have that one if I was closer. You did good. Has all the early features that it should. Can’t tell by the pics does it have the thin front axle?

That was a great deal Martin your prices are very fair for your stuff. Nice to see

Collar spindles but not the thin axle. Martin thinks it may have been changed out on the recall.
Funny thing, the original tires front and back have near zero weather checking. Only one thin line on the outside of the left front tire. If I remember right Martin said that the tractor had sat for many years in a warehouse in NYC. It's never had a mower deck on it, doesn't even have a front pulley on the motor pto shaft. Rear hitch looks like it had a ball installed at one time, and the front of the frame rails have had something bolted to the outside of the frame. The four bolts (two per side) that would be for the mower deck hangers have never been removed. It would be fun to know the stories if the little tractor could talk.

I typically nickname my tractors, like Skipper for the 782 that drove me nuts with a engine miss, or Turbo for my 782DT and Bear for my 2072. Any suggestions for the new O ? I was thinking maybe Quad for 4 digits or Recoil. Let's see who can come up with a good nickname.

How about calling it Grandad, as this is one of the oldest Cadets you'll ever find! So are you going to leave it as is seeing as you have dealer paperwork?

Got to come up with a "vintage" name that isn't popular anymore

That was an awesome deal Doc. I wanted it but it was too far. Martin is very fair on his pricing too.

My vote for the new name is "Ripcord" the Original.

All good names so far! Jeff said a vintage name, it could be Vintage! On the Granddad theme from JohnHall maybe Pappy. Keep the names coming guys.

And yes John, I'm giving serious thought to keeping it as is after a good bath and maybe just a little touch up on a couple places of bare metal. All the paper and the hood decals are too cool!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
