Thank you so much! I just went out and popped the plug out but I broke my snap ring pliers earlier today so I’ll need to go get a new pair tonight to spread that clip.

The pic you posted of the lift arm above the floor board is for the blade.
Your snowblower s/b a 451. A manual can be found online. It attaches under the floor board to lift the blower. The combo unit X-Treme sells is what you need if you don’t have a lift arm for the blower.

You mentioned a jerky hydro. Follow Sam’s advice on changing fluid and filter.

You got that right! Figured out that solution by mistake an no more backfire!

Backfires even when cooled down so must be one of the other issues JMECH mentioned. Some day I'll dig into it but for now opening the throttle work. Father-in-laws 1864 does the exact same thing.

Thanks for the help and the links Sam. I have spent a lot of time on those threads since I picked this one up.

I was able to get everything sealed up bolted back in and started it up instatly started leaking again turns out the right side trunnion seal was leaking as well. Napa has the seal in stock and I was surprisingly able to replace the seal still in the tractor. Not sure what the slot/opening on the right side of the frame is for but it sure was handy to pull the seal 😁

Tractor is sitting the the garage waiting to adjust neutral and put the fenders back on and will be a worker soon.

Here’s a couple pics for entertainment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
