Cub 1450 hydrolic leak
Hey guys,
Have found one slight leak / problem with my recent rebuild project. The tube that runs from the hydro unit to the bottom of the rearend housing has a leak ... its at the bottom threaded conection ... only occurs when the unit is running ... when parking it in the garage after use a small puddle occurs. I've tried unscrewing the connection and using some teflon tape but it still occurs. What have others done when reinstalling this tube to prevent leaks and have a dry connection ? Am I missing something when I put this back together? appreciate any thoughts... Bryan |

I would guess that it's either the flange, or a crack in the tube itself. Things to check...

leak
Think you may have a point ... have to take it out. Going to look for a rubber stopper to fit that hole so I don't have to re add ALL that oil

Look real close as they have a habit of leaking from the cork gasket above and/or from other higher places and trailing down to that pipe mimicking a leak @ that connection.

Guy,
I too have a 1450 which I just got this summer. I found soon after bringing it home a puddle of hytrans was forming under the trany. I had changed the filter and old fluid or the stuff that was in the differential. Anyway, I investigated and found hytrans was getting past the O ring of the break piston when the brakes are set. |

I replaced the gasket on my 1250 the other day and I still have a leak. I haven't taken a real close look since to see where it is coming from, very aggravating though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
